Construction and Outfitting of a Regulation-Size Artificial Turf Football Pitch

As part of United Sport’s portfolio of sports facility projects, we constructed and outfitted a regulation-size artificial turf football pitch at the Maadi Sporting & Yacht Club (Kattameya Branch), covering a total area of 6,800 m².
The project was executed using an integrated process that encompassed everything from ground preparation and base construction to the installation of the artificial turf system and infill materials, concluding with pitch marking and final finishing touches.
Ground Preparation and Base Construction
Work began with site preparation, leveling, and grade setting, followed by the construction of base layers in accordance with required technical specifications.
Base layers consisting of crushed stone and aggregate were installed to a total thickness of 25 cm, followed by a 5 cm layer of fine sand (Helwan sand), involving spreading, leveling, compaction, and precise grade adjustment.
Necessary tests were conducted on the base layers to verify compaction efficiency and structural stability, ensuring technical requirements were met and minimizing the risk of future surface subsidence or deformation.
Artificial Turf System
We supplied and installed sports-grade artificial turf with a pile height of 50 mm (5 cm) and a density of 16 stitches, specifically designed for football pitches and backed by a 5-year warranty.
The turf system utilized silica sand as the primary infill, followed by SBR rubber granules; this combination helps stabilize the turf fibers while enhancing performance characteristics, flexibility, and shock absorption. Sports Field Line Marking
The field’s line marking was executed using white artificial turf, adhering to approved regulatory dimensions for football pitches. The process involved precise cutting, shaping, and installation, covering all key elements: boundary lines, penalty areas, center circles, arcs, and required sports markings.
The markings were integrated directly into the turf system itself, ensuring line stability, dimensional accuracy, and a uniform final appearance for the field.
Finishing and Handover
Following the installation and securing of turf rolls and the treatment of seams and joints, final finishing work was completed. A comprehensive inspection of the field surface and markings was conducted to ensure a fully finished, ready-to-use facility.
